The Villages Amateur Radio Club participated in Field Day 2022 on June 25th and 26th. Once again we were fortunate to use the Sumter County Sheriff Department’s Emergency Services trailer. as we did last year, we again, had the trailer parked in the Eisenhower Recreation Center parking lot. Our plans for a Friday evening setting up were messed up by thunderstorms (again), but a large crew of TVARC members successfully set up Saturday morning. This year. we had six stations assembled in the trailer – one for SSB, one for CW, one for FT8, one for 6M, one for FM simplex, and a GOTA (Get On The .
All three stations received considerable play. The SSB/CW station was on the air for nearly the entire 24 hours of Field Day, and the 14 club members who operated the station made 1,036 QSOs. At least 6 club members operated the FT8 station, and they made 139 contacts on FT8 and FT4. The 6M station was operated by three club members to the tune of 55 QSOs.
Thirty-eight club members signed the attendance sheet inside the trailer. We also had 28 guests sign in and tour the operation inside the trailer. A large number of other folks visited our ambassador table outside the trailer. Some walked up, and some drove up in their golf carts. It was clear that the Eisenhower Recreation Center was a much better location in terms of visibility than we had used in past years.
All in all, Field Day was a very successful event for TVARC. Everyone who participated had a fun time.
